30 Under 30 Realtor Magazine – Final 50 Bio – Kyle Malnati

I am thrilled to report that I was contacted by a freelance writer from REALTOR(R) Magazine that notified me that I made the “final round of cuts” which comprised the last 50 brokers.  30 of the 50 will eventually be a part of REALTOR(R) Magazine’s 30 under 30 issue.  Below are her draft article notes from my telephone interview:

SHORT FORM –

Kyle Malnati’s cousin-in-law was a successful commercial real estate professional; he wanted that for his career. His mentor’s firm hired him after graduation and he began working toward becoming a broker. Malnati, whose business is in the Denver apartment community, has prided himself of being one of few Realtors in commercial real estate. “I choose to be a Realtor when most of my colleagues choose not to be,” Malnati says prideful. Malnati’s success was tested in 2011. A former client offered him the opportunity to start his own commercial division of a residential firm. He was hesitant to leave an established commercial firm and start from scratch. Malnati’s wife had just given birth to twins and left her career. Then tragedy struck. Malnati’s younger brother died suddenly of a congenital heart defect. “It was surreal period of time in my life,” Malnati says. “…I harnessed that pain and emotion to become more successful. My career in real estate didn’t stop.”

LONG FORM –

Kyle Malnati’s cousin-in-law was a successful commercial real estate professional and 30 under 30 recipient. Malnati wanted that for his professional career. Enjoying the college life to its full extent put him on the brink of losing sight of that goal. He had failed out of college and had to petition to re-enroll. He was green lighted, improved his GPA and soon earned himself an internship at his mentor’s firm. The firm hired him after graduation as their transaction manager and he began working toward becoming a broker. He has prided himself in being one of few Realtors in commercial real estate. “I’ve always prided myself in being a Realtor,” Malnati says. “I choose to be a Realtor when most of my colleagues choose not to be.” His success was tested in 2011. A former client had offered him the opportunity to head up a commercial arm of his residential real estate business. He was hesitant to leave a well established commercial firm to start a commercial division from scratch. Malnati’s wife had just given birth to twins and left her career. Then tragedy struck. Malnati’s younger brother died suddenly of a congenital heart defect. “It was surreal period of time in my life,” Malnati says. “…I harnessed that pain and emotion to become more successful. My career in real estate didn’t stop.” Malnati, whose business is in the Denver apartment community, started a commission-based charity fund in his brother’s name giving him the opportunity to grieve while supporting his growing family and business.
