Dr. Seuss said, “don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.” It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of the Johnson Piretti Team from Calibrate Real Estate. While we will miss our daily comradery and collaboration, we look forward to the new opportunities that the future presents.
Greg Johnson and Conner Piretti started working together in 2007 at Cornerstone Apartment Services, a Denver multifamily management company. Conner left apartment management to pursue a career in real estate sales in 2013; the year after Greg had left Cornerstone to join forces with Kyle Malnati. Together Greg and Kyle brokered over $200,000,000 in Colorado real estate sales from 2012-2016 as commercial brokers at a residential firm called Madison & Company Properties.
Real estate is a referral-based business, and our clients often introduce us to new business opportunities whether it is directly or indirectly. “Greg and I always joked that a mutual client was our ‘match-maker’ when people asked how we started working as a team, because a client literally called me to share the news that Greg was a free agent shortly after he left Cornerstone. It was one of the best referrals I have ever received,” said Calibrate CEO, Kyle Malnati.
Malnati, Johnson, and two staff members left Madison to create Calibrate Real Estate in November 2106. Conner was working at a residential powerhouse, Kentwood, when Kyle and Greg recruited him to join Calibrate a month later as the first new hire. As the startup grew from a brokerage team into a company, it made sense for Conner and Greg to work more closely together while Kyle had the responsibility of running the business. CRE grew methodically into a 13-person firm before moving out of the original startup office in December 2019 into our new headquarters on Colorado Boulevard.
